The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) requires LEED Green Associate's and LEED Accredited Professionals (AP) to maintain their credential through continuing education or retesting every two years. Green Ideas seminars will help meet your continuing education requirements and are eligible for continuing education for many other industries as well. Our Continuing Education page will help you know what your requirements are and provide you will resources for meeting those needs.
By taking a Green Ideas Education online prep course you will get the training needed to not only pass the LEED Exam but to fully understand the requirements of a green building project. Our courses offer a comprehensive look at real LEED projects on how their building through the LEED Certification process has helped the building make an impact on the environment while significantly lowering energy costs. These courses offer an array of tips and tools that will take you above and beyond as an Accredited Professional working in the field.
Buildings are certified. People are accredited.
LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project meets the highest green building and performance measures. All certified projects receive a LEED plaque, which is the nationally recognized symbol demonstrating that a building is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to live and work. There are both environmental and financial benefits to earning LEED certification.
LEED accreditation refers to an individual's credentials that indicate professional excellence and a strong depth of knowledge and practical understanding of the green building and the LEED rating systems. Although GBCI manages the credentialing program, it does not offer supporting education programs or exam preparation resources. Green Ideas does! Preparing to take the Green Associate or LEED AP exams that lead to these credentials is a process and we are here to help. We offer you a variety of products, services and support that will enable you to pass your exams the first time. We also have products that will help you maintain your credential with continuing education.
The first step in the LEED AP process is to prepare for and pass your LEED Green Associate exam. This tier one exam is for professionals who want to demonstrate green building expertise in non-technical fields of practice and/or are pursuing their LEED AP credential. Please see our Green Associate FAQ's for more information. After successful completion of your LEED Green Associate exam, you are ready to pursue your LEED AP in one of the four specialties, Building Design and Construction (BD+C), Interior Design and Construction (ID+C) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) or Homes. This credential signifies an advanced depth of knowledge in applying and implementing green building practices and the chosen LEED AP Rating System. Please see our LEED AP FAQ's for more information.
